Confirm that the door is ready
An automatic opener belongs on a properly functioning, balanced door. Ask for the door condition to be assessed before equipment is selected. Existing spring, cable, roller or section problems need their own explanation; a more powerful motor is not the answer to a door that binds or has lost lifting support. Tell the installer whether this is a first installation or a replacement of existing equipment.
Choose a layout that fits
Ceiling-mounted trolley openers and wall-mounted operators have different mounting and door requirements. A clear ceiling alone does not make a wall-mounted model suitable. The exact spring arrangement, track geometry, shaft, side clearance and manufacturer limits matter. Share storage racks, beams, low headroom, lighting and nearby outlets during planning. Avoid purchasing equipment until its intended location and door compatibility have been checked.
Compare the features in real use
Consider which room is near the garage, how often the door operates and who needs access. Belt and chain drive options differ, but noise also comes from the door and mounting. Ask about battery backup, keypad access, compatible vehicle controls and connected features as separate requirements. A model that supports an app may still need specific network conditions, accessories or account setup for the functions you want.
Define the installation package
Request the exact model and the included rail, sensors, wall control, remotes, brackets and accessories. Clarify removal of the old operator, treatment of existing wiring and any electrical work outside the installer’s scope. Confirm which existing accessories can remain and which need replacement. Equipment-only prices and installed proposals describe different things; compare complete written scopes rather than the motor name or advertised horsepower alone.
If new electrical work is needed, establish who will perform it and what is outside the door installer’s scope. Do not treat an extension lead or an improvised connection as a settled installation plan.
Handover should leave you informed
Ask for the operating manual, model details, demonstration of controls and explanation of the model's safety and outage procedures. Access credentials should belong to the property owner; avoid sharing passwords through a contact form. Request manufacturer-appropriate setup and safety checks. Contact I-95 Garage Door with your city and current setup to confirm supported installation options and availability before scheduling or ordering equipment.
