Why a garage door looks crooked
A crooked garage door should be left out of service. Uneven position can involve cables, tracks, rollers, damaged sections or lifting support; the sloping edge alone does not identify which part failed.
Distinguish a sloping door from a floor gap
Notice whether the bottom edge itself is uneven relative to the opening, or whether a level-looking closed door meets an irregular floor. This is information to report, not an invitation to move the door for comparison. A new tilt during travel is particularly different from a long-standing small floor gap. Mention when you first noticed the change and whether there was an impact, unusual noise or recent work.
Keep operation and handling stopped
A crooked door may be supported unevenly. Do not use the motor to pull the high side down or the low side up. Avoid the emergency release, cable adjustments, drum work and bottom-bracket loosening. Do not stand below the door or try to lift it with a helper. Keep both the opening and the space beneath raised sections clear, and prevent anyone else from using a remote while the condition remains unresolved.
Report visible clues from a safe location
A loose cable, wheel outside the track, bent track, separated hinge or distorted panel may help frame the assessment. You do not need to approach or touch the equipment to confirm the detail. Safe photos taken from outside the travel path are enough for an initial conversation. If a cable is not visible, do not assume it is intact; some faults cannot be identified from the front of a closed assembly.
Ask for a cause-based repair
The repair recommendation should explain what allowed the uneven position and whether other parts were damaged as a result. Re-leveling a door without addressing the cause is not a complete diagnosis. Ask about compatible replacement parts, track and section condition, balance and opener checks after work. Share your city and the door position with I-95 Garage Door, then confirm that the requested off-track or lifting-system assessment is supported and available.
After an impact, include which part of the door or opening was struck and whether the supporting frame appears damaged from a safe viewpoint. A track-only proposal may leave section or structural issues unexplained. Ask which findings belong within the repair and which require separate assessment.
